Obtaining Synchronized Analog Data and Uploading Analog Data in Vic-2D/3D

Obtaining Synchronized Data

Most of our systems come with an National Instruments DAQ.  Typically these have BNC Inputs.  Once the DAQ is plugged in, the Analog Data icon in Vic-Snap will no longer be greyed out.  If it still is greyed out after the DAQ is plugged into the PC, you might need to install the NI drivers for that DAQ.

You may click on that Analog Data icon and name your voltage parameters (i.e. Load, LVDT, etc.), scale them, and offset them.  Both raw voltage and the scaled/offset voltage will be recorded.  For more on the Analog Data dialog, go to Vic-Snap and select Help>Help, then select Analog Data in the Vic-Snap Manual (which is located in the Contents tab).

In Vic-Snap, a new data file is created every time you reassign a file name/prefix.  For example, you might name your file name/prefix "tensiletest."  You will have all of your images (tensiletest-00001_0.tif for example) and also a csv file named tensiletest.csv.  You may click on Data Log in Vic-Snap to see the data file.  In the data file, it records the image file names/locations, time stamps for each camera, and all analog data (raw voltage and scaled voltage) for each image.  So for each image pair, you will have your synchronized analog data.  Please note that this is for live streaming cameras.

For other cameras that don't stream images live to the PC, contact support@correlatedsolutions.com for data sync instructions.

Uploading Analog Data in Vic-2D/3D

In Vic-2D/3D go to Project>Analog Data and browse to your file, filename.csv (tensiletest.csv in this example).  Now when you use your Inspector Tools to Extract Data (line plots), you'll have an option to plot your analog data with your other Vic-3D variables (strains, displacements, etc).  See the Help menu in Vic-3D/2D for more on how to extract line plot data.
