A recent Windows update (late May/early June 2026) is causing our software to crash on start. Correlated Solutions is working with platform providers to solve this issue; it may addressed in the short term by uninstalling the update as described below.
Symptom: when starting Vic-Snap, Vic-2D, or Vic-3D, a Windows crash screen appears and reports an error HYPERVISOR (0x20001).
Fix: from the Start menu, select Windows Update settings.
Select Update history.
Click Uninstall updates.
Find KB5089573 and click Uninstall.
The update will be uninstalled and a reboot will be prompted. After rebooting, VIC software should run normally.
