The Blue-Falcon employs an adjustable Scheimpflug mechanism, which tilts the sensor inside each camera body so that the focal planes of the two cameras can be rotated onto a single, shared object plane.
Without it, a stereo pair at small field of view holds focus only in a narrow band through the center of the image, because each camera views the surface from a different angle and the two depths of field overlap across only part of the frame.
With the Scheimpflug angle set correctly, the whole field of view is in focus for both cameras, and the usable width approaches that of a single sensor.
