Ansys Export Utilities for VIC-3D 11

This folder contains a collection of python scripts for converting ANSYS FEA results to a format compatible with Vic-3D. 

These scripts run outside ANSYS Mechanical in a normal Python 3 interpreter. There is nothing to install into ANSYS itself.

• rst2json.py: Convert ANSYS result (.rst) files to JSON
• json2vtp.py: Convert the JSON to VTP (only needed if you are not importing the JSON directly)

Requirements

• Python 3.9 or newer
• A local ANSYS installation, 2021 R1 or newer. This provides the DPF server that ansys-dpf-core talks to; the scripts do not need ANSYS Mechanical to be running.
• The ansys-dpf-core package, plus numpy:

$ python -m pip install ansys-dpf-core numpy

json2vtp.py additionally needs the vtk module:

$ python -m pip install vtk

Note that in some installations, the python interpreter may have to be invoked using the command py instead of python.
